Edge of Peril Fog Lake Mysteries Book 1 Audible Audio Edition Christy Barritt Sandy Rustin Books Reviews

  • As always I scooped up Christy Barritt's newest book. This series is a little darker than previous series. The spookiness and creepiness reels you in. You can practically feel the menace and the threat to Harper. The fog is practically another character..ephemeral, wispy but heavy, deceptive, changeable, frightening. Luke is capable, strong, responsible, and damaged. Harper is fearless, intelligent, determined and a survivor. It is so great that they get their HEA in Fog Lake. The characters are quirky and fun. No gore, bad language or sex. It's a clean read. The town is one you would like to visit...just stay away from the cabins and the lake after dark! I can't wait to see the series develop. .maybe Ansly's story next? I really enjoyed this start to a new series!
  • Definitely a different story for the typical Barritt novel, BUT I loved it. I really enjoy reading stories with a serial killer who keeps up the killing. I love watching the heroine run for her life. In this story, Barritt has the heroine mention who she thinks did it and then she left you guessing for the rest of the story if the heroine was correct. The book moved at a fast pace. I had a really hard time putting the book down. I can't wait to see what else Barritt writes in this series.
  • I’ve loved every book I’ve read by Christy Barritt and this wasn’t any different! Luke moved back home when his dad was dying, leaving his position as Police Detective. He promised his dad to take over the job as police chief. Their small town was peaceful until the murders started. Harper is a political reporter in DC when she hears about the murders. This sounds like something her adopted brother would do. After he attacked her in her late teens, Harper moved out. But, Billy’s supposed to have died in an automobile accident years ago after she left home ...... right? Luke doesn’t like a serial killer in his hometown. Why isn’t there any evidence ever left at the scene? When Harper hears about the murders she takes an extended vacation to help the Police Chief, but he doesn’t trust reporters and doesn’t want her help. Can God open their eyes to really see each other’s heart? This is another great book I couldn’t put down! The story’s filled with suspense, deception and romance.
  • 3.5 stars

"He was worse than a ghost. He was real."

Young women are turning up dead in Fog Lake, Tennessee and the killer is as illusive as a wisp of smoke. Sheriff Luke Wilder has very few clues, if any at all, to follow up on .. . . until a curious bit of information from an outsider comes to his attention.

Harper Jennings is sure that she knows who is on a killing spree in the idyllic small town of Fog Lake; more than likely it's the same person who tried to take her life just three years prior. It's a crazy story, she knows that, but it's worth a chance if it keeps others away from the edge of a very sharp knife.

Be prepared to sit on the edge of your seat! Christy Barritt is off to a great start in her new series; "Fog Lake Mysteries".
  • When it comes to writing deliciously creepy, look-over-your-shoulder whodunits, Christy Barritt always delivers. Edge of Peril is a quick read, partially due to the fact that it's impossible to put down! Some of this story wasn't very credible but I enjoyed it despite that fact. It IS fiction after all! With a sweet whisper of romance and complicated relationships, Edge of Peril is another great suspense read I highly recommend!
  • You will enjoy this book. Especially if you are the kind who tries to figure it out before the end of the pages!
This book is not for everyone. It can be rough at times with the decisions that are made in life.

I give a five star rating. This book challenged my own faith. Thanks Christy for your fine books and the faith you pass along to others. Keep using your gift to enrich our lives.
  • Christy writes a great story about a serial killer in a small town in the Smokies. I enjoyed especially because I live in TN, a few miles from The Great Smoky Mountains. The story is about a serial killer, his step sister and the local sheriff in this small TN town. I am not going to reveal anything else, except I figured out the killer only to be thrown off by more clues. Great suspense story you want to keep reading till the end.
  • Courage isn’t the absence of fear...Journalist, Harper Jennings comes to a Smokey Mountain small town with a fear that she knows who has committed multiple murders. Will anyone believe that she was his victim years ago? As the mystery unfolds, Sheriff Luke Wilder doesn’t know whether or not to believe this newcomer. Is she telling the truth and if so, will she survive in this town? Thrilling mystery!
